Can you guess what Koja stands for? Korean Japanese! Koja Kitchen specializes in sandwiches with a unique combination of Korean & Japanese flavors. Another reason why their sandwiches are so unique? Their buns! Instead of bread buns, they’re crispy garlic rice buns!
The classic and top-seller, The Short Rib Koja or “The Original” Koja, includes kalbi, sesame vinaigrette lettuce, katsu aioli, sesame seeds. The kalbi was extremely tender and succulent. It was sweet and slightly tangy. I absolutely love it, but if you want something more savory, get the Braised Pork Koja.
The Braised Pork Koja is much more umami. There are miso-coconut braised pork, arugula, wonton chip, garlic aioli, and masago. The pork was so juicy! Might be a bit messy to eat, but definitely worth it! But what more worth it is their Beef Bowl.
The Beef Bowl includes a heaping amount of korean bbq beef, a big scoop of rice with sauteed onions, kimchi, masago, green onions, and fried onions. The beef is marinated perfectly. So flavourful and juicy.
Last but not least, the Kamikaze Fries. You can’t have burgers without fries, right. Out of all the dishes, this is my favourite. It is 10 times more flavourful than the any of the sandwiches or the bowls. The crosscut waffle fries were crunchy. The minced korean bbq beef was juicy. The Japanese mayo and red sauce were sweet and spicy. One of the best fries I’ve had.
Would I visit again? Yes! Yes! Yes!
